Bards Day 2013 was the most successful Bards Day to date. Launching a poetry anthology of 102 poets 97 people were in attendance at the event. A true testament to the diverse nature of poetry on Long Island, poets of all ages attended and came out to read their work from the book.  

In addition to the opening talks, one of which was given by Long Island's own George Wallace, others by James. P. Wagner (Ishwa) and Nick Hale, and the standard poetry readings, the usual set up was broken up with hilarious poetry skits, the halftime show of Jay Jii's rendition of “O Captain My Captain” and the Bards Awards—a new addition to the annual event honoring those in the Long Island Poetry community who have helped perpetuate and grow the poetic tradition of the Island.
